STARS Reporting Overview: Roles, Credits & Due Dates

Thank you for your important role(s) as a Subject Matter Expert (SME/Data Provider) and/or *Responsible Party (RP/Reviewer) in Sustainability Tracking, Assessment & Rating System (STARS) data collection.

*Not every credit is assigned a Responsible Party (RP/Reviewer).

Please note: You must be logged in to AASHE to view individual credits. 


Open the STARS 2026 Reporting Matrix – Credits, Roles & Timeline (FY25) and complete the following steps: 

 

1. Confirm Your STARS Role 

Select "yes", "no" or "unsure" next to your name to indicate your STARS role  Subject Matter Expert (SME/Data Provider) and/or Responsible Party (RP/Reviewer).


2. Review Your Credits & Timeline


3.  Log Onto the STARS Report Builder

You must have an AASHE account to access the STARS Report Builder. Click on link below for instructions on how to create or retrieve your AASHE account.

 


4. Enter or Review Your Data Using the STARS Report Builder


 


Acronyms

AASHE-Association for the Advancement of Sustainability in Higher Education

STARS-Sustainability Tracking, Assessment & Rating System (a program of AASHE)

SME-Subject Matter Expert (SME/Data Provider) 
The subject matter expert for each credit is a staff member, faculty member, or administrator responsible for collecting and submitting data within their assigned credits.

RP-Responsible Party (RP/Data Reviewer)
The responsible party for each credit should be a staff member, faculty member, or administrator who is willing to affirm that the information submitted is accurate and can respond to questions regarding the data.


STARS Schedule-SME & RP

  • SMEs Deadline for entering data December 10th, 2025
  • RPs Deadline for reviewing data January 10th, 2025
