1. Log In & Open the Report Builder

1. Go to stars.aashe.org.
2. Click Log In (top right).
3. Enter your Cornell email and password.
4. Once logged in, click Report Builder from the dashboard.
   (This is the updated name for the “Reporting Tool.”)

2. Locate Your Credit(s)

1. In the left-hand navigation menu, you will see all credits grouped under headings like Academics, Engagement, Operations, etc.
2. Expand the appropriate section and click on the credit you have been assigned.
3. Your credit page will open with editable fields, data tables, and upload options.

3. Instructions for Data Providers

You are responsible for entering/updating data and supporting documentation.

Step-by-Step:

1. Review Existing Data:
   • Check if last year’s data is pre-filled.
   • Delete anything that is outdated or no longer correct.
2. Gather Your Current Data:
   • Use the credit criteria description to make sure you’re including the right data.
   • Double-check numbers, date ranges, and units of measurement.
3. Enter New Data:
   • Fill in the fields for this reporting year.
   • Use consistent units and formats (e.g., percentages, FTE counts, fiscal year dates).
4. Upload Supporting Documents:
   • Attach spreadsheets, policies, or screenshots as evidence where requested.
   • Use descriptive file names (e.g., OP5_GHG_Inventory_FY24.pdf).
5. Add Notes:
   • Use the Notes field to explain methodology, exclusions, or assumptions.
   • This helps reviewers understand your process.
6. Save Your Work:
   • Click Save regularly. STARS does not auto-save.
7. Notify Your Reviewer:
   • Once finished, let the reviewer know your credit is ready for review.
   • Do not click Complete — leave that for the reviewer.

You are responsible for quality-checking the data providers’ work.

Step-by-Step:

1. Open the Assigned Credit:
   • After the data provider notifies you, open the credit in Report Builder.
2. Check Accuracy:
   • Compare numbers to source documents.
   • Make sure date ranges, definitions, and methodologies are correct.
3. Verify Documentation:
   • Ensure all required uploads are present, clearly named, and current.
   • Confirm URLs are live and accessible.
4. Provide Feedback:
   • If data needs correction, leave a note in the credit and notify the provider.
5. Mark as Complete:
   • Once the credit is accurate and ready, scroll to the bottom and click Complete.
   • This locks the credit and signals the STARS Administrator that it is ready for final submission.
