Campus Sustainability Reports
Public, transparent reporting on progress and shared metrics is a key value of the sustainability movement in higher education. Cornell University participates in three public, annual reporting efforts which make 1,000s of data points on our campus progress available to the public. External sites also allow for users to use reports to compare progress across years, or against peer institutions.
Public Reporting
AASHE STARS Report
Cornell annually collects and publishes 1,000s of metrics in the Sustainability Tracking, Assessment & Rating System (STARS) system with the help of 40+ campus subject matter experts. Compare our campus progress in waste, transportation, green buildings, diversity and inclusion, sustainable investing, food, research, engagement, and more, with reports dating back to 2012 or with other participating Universities across the U.S. and the world.
Greenhouse Gas Report
Cornell reports annually to Second Nature on greenhouse gas emissions and progress towards our carbon neutrality date of 2035. Use the public reporting dashboard provided by Second Nature to compare Cornell and over 400 other campuses’ emissions reduction, renewable energy generation, climate action plans, and more.

Annual Sustainability Report
The Campus Sustainability Office and Sustainable Cornell Council publish a highlight report of sustainabilty priorities, progress towards goals, new programs, notable achievements, and potential areas of improvement each year.
