Siteimprove is a simple yet powerful tool available to all Cornell faculty and staff in Ithaca, and at Weill Cornell Medicine and Cornell Tech in New York city. Siteimprove evaluates the accessibility of websites and indicates how to improve them.

Siteimprove provides users with complete visibility across their websites’ content quality and performance. Accessible web design is central to good design principles; following guidelines for web accessibility ensures inclusive use for everyone.

Implementing Siteimprove overlaps with other best practices, like mobile accessibility, device independence and search engine optimization. Siteimprove shouldn’t be your only tool on the way to web accessibility, but it can help you get started.

Siteimprove features:

  • Accessibility overview: generates a priority list of web pages that need the most attention, guiding you through fixing nonaccessible headings, images, links or forms.

  • Intuitive dashboard: provides at-a-glance views of key data, such as priority policies that your website follows, and accessibility and quality assurance issues. Such data can help guide decisions about site structure and content strategy.

  • Quality assurance: automatically locates broken links and misspellings, and highlights an inventory of your content.

  • CMS plug-In: This module can be added for more in-depth data.

If you’ve never used Siteimprove, you’ll need to request access to get set up.

If you could benefit from working with or hiring additional assistance beyond this self-service, contact Custom Development for website assessments, evaluations and fixes.
