Sustainability features of East Avenue construction project

Campus Sustainability Office August 31, 2018

After undergoing a summer of construction, the months-long renovation project on East Avenue officially opened on August 25, 2018.

Pedestrians, drivers, and bikers can now enjoy the newly implemented sustainability features of East Avenue. Besides adding traffic lights at the intersection of East Avenue and Campus Road, raised crosswalks, re-painted bike lanes, and paved roads all help promote safety and traffic flow.

The bus stop outside Statler Hall also received a makeover. The new bus shelter features a Blue Light for emergency contact with CU Police, while the elimination of steps between the bus pull-off and road increases accessibility.

New Features:

  • Traffic light

  • Flattened bus stop

  • Blue Light bus shelter

  • Raised crosswalks

  • Re-painted bike lanes

  • Paved roads

The project was made possible in part with Cornell’s Energy & Sustainability division within the Utilities Department.
