The Residential Sustainability Leaders are launching a Green Room Certification pilot this Spring. Help us test the certification - and make your living space more sustainable - by being one of the first to sign up.
Complete the Green Room Certification.
The Green Room Certification program recognizes students, living on- and off-campus, who are striving to live more sustainably. Students can achieve four levels of certification based on the number and frequency of actions taken: Bronze, Silver, Gold, and Platinum.
Platinum: 95+ credits
Gold: 75+
Silver: 50+
Bronze: 25+
Students earn credit based on how frequently they take each action, per the following scale:
Always: 4 credits
Usually: 3
Sometimes: 2
Rarely: 1
Never: 0
All participants will be asked to attest to the accuracy of their submission, along with providing visual proof of their Green Room. Students who successfully obtain a certification will be notified of their certification level via email within one week. Residential communities will be ranked based on the percentage of students participating and the level of certification they have achieved. Rankings will be posted publicly, including on the Sustainable Cornell website, newsletters, and social media.
During the Spring 2021 pilot, participating students will be asked to provide feedback on the certification after submitting the application. This will inform changes to the certification program prior to our official launch in Fall 2021. Everyone who submits feedback will be entered into a raffle to win prizes to help them live more sustainably, including remote-controlled surge protectors, 25oz Cornell University tumblers, and more. Applications for Spring 2021 will be accepted until Wednesday, May 5th. Winners of the raffle will be drawn on Thursday, May 6th.
Managed by Cornell's Residential Sustainability Leaders, in partnership with the Campus Sustainability Office and Housing & Residential Life.
