Two sustainability workshops offered on 2019 Staff Development Day

Campus Sustainability Office July 22, 2019

Cornell will be hosting the annual Staff Development Day on August 7th, 2019 in the Physical Sciences Building at Cornell University. The workshops and exhibits at Staff Development Day give Cornell employees opportunities to invest in their personal and professional growth and well-being. The day's events will center on various aspects of education exploration, professional development, wellness and community in the workplace. A continental breakfast will be available at 8:30 a.m. compliments of your Employee Assembly!

Sustainability is part of every staff job description at Cornell.  It is one of the elements of the Cornell Skills for Success.  Staff at every level can help champion and steward change for a more sustainable set of campus operations, environment, and culture of behavior.

Jumpstart your sustainability skills development with two workshops at this year's event:

Sustainability Business Tools

Advanced Tools for Sustainability Decision Making

10:30 – 11:30 am | Clark Hall Room 294F

Learn how to use Cornell University's "quadruple bottom line" sustainability business decision making assessment tool developed by the Campus Sustainability Office, senior administrators, and faculty to help managers, purchasers, and staff at all levels assess the sustainability impact of their work. This workshop will guide participants through using the free tools available to perform an assessment for their work. A laptop is helpful but not necessary to participate in this event.

Green Office Certification

Earn Your Green Office Certification in Under One Hour

12:00 – 1:00 pm | Clark Hall Room 294C

Join us for this interactive workshop where you will identify sustainable actions your office currently takes, and learn simple, useful changes you can make to reduce your waste and energy impact on-campus. By attending this event you will earn or renew your green office certification and create a plan to achieve a Gold/Platinum rating. Please bring a laptop or email Kim Anderson to reserve one for the event.

And don't forget to stop by our atrium table between 9am-4pm for an overview of programs and resources for all University employees!
