Cornell University honors sustainability leaders through three award programs which recognize the efforts of our students, staff, faculty and broader community members.

Cornell University Partners in Sustainability Awards 

Nominations accepted on a rolling basis through February of each year.  

Recognizing individuals and teams who have exemplified the sustainability values of Cornell, made significant and notable contributions to the sustainable development and social equity of the Cornell campus, or displayed outstanding partnership for advancing sustainability within our campus and community.   Teams and groups, and individual categories are awarded. Self-nominations encouraged!

Nominations accepted on a rolling basis year round

Staff Sustainability Champions spotlights staff who exemplify Cornell University's commitment to sustainability, and have shown leadership and initiative to catalyze change for a more sustainable campus and planet with actions big and small.  No sustainability champion should go unrecognized.  Make someone's day - show them you care by pointing out their leadership for actions big and small!

Spring ceremony for graduating seniors and other student leaders

This annual award ceremony launched in Spring 2018 as a way to celebrate graduating seniors. Students who pledge to commit to lifelong sustainability earn Green Honor Tassels to wear during graduation and the ceremony recognizes student leadership in sustainability across all areas of the campus.
