At Cornell University, sustainable purchasing is a top priority. Sustainable buying practices can promote our long-term prosperity, contribute to good jobs for people in our community, and help protect the living environment.
Buy Smart, Shop Sustainable
Sustainable purchasing is integrated into the Campus Sustainability Plan, a guiding document for sustainability in our campus and community. The updated plan details goals and key tactics for 2019-2026, including the following purchasing goals:
Double the annual sustainable expenditures by 2025.
Double the number of approved vendors which support sustainable business practices, social and economic equity, and diversity in business ownership, such as women, minority, and veteran owned businesses, local sustainable businesses, and B-corp certified by 2025.
Expand the existing Cornell sustainable purchasing guidelines to new products by doubling the available selection of verified sustainable products by 2020.
Do you need to make purchasing decisions for your department or workspace? Cornell made finding sustainable products easy with e-SHOP.
Similar to "wish lists" on sites like Amazon, e-SHOP's Fast Tracks offers two ways to find items you order often:
A pre-defined list of items frequently purchased at Cornell, listed by category – computers, office supplies, lab supplies, paper and toners.
- Create your own Fast Tracks list of items you order on a regular basis or just store items you'd like to order. You can also share personal Fast Tracks folders with others. Explore institutional resources below.
